SF’s China Live Crew Bringing Giant Asian Food Playground to Valley

A massive, San Francisco born pan Asian emporium called Asia Live, from the China Live team, is headed to Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara. The two story venue is planned at roughly 13,000 square feet with about 350 seats, though mall and restaurant representatives say the opening has been pushed back to sometime between March and May 2026.

The 13,000 square foot, 350 seat project will take over the two story space that formerly housed iChina at Westfield Valley Fair. The venue’s address is 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd. #1891, according to San Francisco Chronicle.

What To Expect

Asia Live is being positioned as a marketplace restaurant with multiple live cooking stations, sushi and robata counters, tandoori ovens and an Indonesian rice table, plus cafe, retail offerings and bars, as reported by Eater SF. The owners also plan a cocktail program modeled on China Live’s Cold Drinks Bar and a seasonally rotating menu, according to Forbes. In other words, this is not your standard mall food court.

From China Live To Silicon Valley

The project comes from restaurateurs George Chen and Cindy Wong-Chen, who opened the 30,000 square foot China Live complex in San Francisco in 2017, per the San Francisco Chronicle. Chen has described the Valley Fair location as a natural progression from China Live’s market and kitchen model, effectively exporting the concept from Chinatown to the heart of Silicon Valley.

Timeline And Context

Though the concept was promoted last year for a fall 2025 debut, a restaurant spokesperson told KRON4 the opening is now expected sometime between March and May 2026. Westfield Valley Fair’s senior general manager Sue Newsom said in the announcement that Asia Live will “solidify Westfield Valley Fair as a premier destination” and complement the mall’s existing restaurants, per that release reported by KRON4.

First broke the Valley Fair plans in January 2025, capturing the initial announcement and the project’s scale. That earlier coverage from Hoodline laid out many of the menu and design promises the owners are now refining for the mall location.

If Asia Live opens at the announced scale, it will bring China Live favorites such as sheng jian bao and Peking duck pockets to Silicon Valley alongside new regional dishes. The owners say they will confirm final menus and a firm opening date as the spring 2026 window approaches, per Forbes.
