Known for its Peking duck and white-jacketed service, the Nashville restaurant occupies the space last home to M. Market and some smaller, adjoining spaces.
The 8,212-square-foot space, with an address of 209 10th Ave. S. Suite 235, saw a build-out cost of more than $6 million, Nashville Business Journal previously reported.
Philippe Chow specializes in multiple dishes featuring seafood, green prawns, spare ribs, filet mignon, Peking duck, satays, noodles and dumplings.
Nashville is the fourth U.S. location for the brand, which focuses on Beijing-style cuisine (read more here).
Philippe Chow parent company Merchants enlisted architectural firm 3877 (co-based in New York and Washington, D.C.) to give the Nashville Philippe Chow an “opulent blend of glamor and sophistication,” according to a release.
Merchants bills itself as one of New York’s largest privately held restaurant owners. The company operates 17 restaurants in the city, including Treadwell Park (multiple locations), Merchants Cigar Bar, Industry Kitchen, Watermark Bar & Lounge and Mezze on the River.
Bruin Bodega, Belmont University’s new student-run specialty market, is set to open Oct. 15.
Located at 2006 Belmont Blvd., Bruin Bodega will feature consumer packaged goods created by Belmont alumni, students and faculty. These include NoBaked Cookie Dough, Prickly Pear Coffee, Chechi’s Chai, Biscuit Love (jams and granola) and Vitamin Honey, according to a release.
The concept, operated via Belmont’s Cone Center for Entrepreneurship, is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience. It is part of a new incubator program for student entrepreneurs led by Megan Feeman, co-founder of NoBaked Cookie and Belmont entrepreneur-in-residence.
Bruin Bodega replaces the former student-run store Where the Well Things Are.
“Every four years we have a new student body with fresh ideas and dreams for how they want these businesses to look,” Elizabeth Gortmaker, Cone Center executive director, said in the release.
“Bruin Bodega is a colorful, fun and punchy market that truly reflects our Bruin community while preparing students for real-world success.”
