Rock ‘N Thai Cafe serves up fresh Asian cuisine on the lakeshore
NORTON SHORES, MI – Rock ‘N Thai Cafe is where Thai food meets lakeside bliss, and the energy of rock music meets the aromatic spices of Asian cuisine.
The self-proclaimed “Jammin’ Thai cuisine” joint offers savory flavors that blend tradition with innovation.
Rock ‘N Thai has been a staple in the region since opening in 2017 in Holland. Over the years, it opened two new spots: one in Grand Haven by U.S. 131 and another in the Muskegon area.
The Norton Shores location at 1084 E. Sternberg Road, near Muskegon County Airport, opened to the public in early December 2024, taking over the space of the former Egg Roll House Restaurant.
West Michigan’s Sandy Khammanivong owns the small-town franchise with her son, Kong. The mother-and-son duo hope to expand, bringing more of Thailand to the residents of West Michigan.
“Come and try us and experience the exotic of Thai cuisine, from appetizers to entrees, featuring freshly made curry dishes to famous Thai noodles,” the Khammanivong family said. “We’ll see you soon.”
Diners can choose from more than two dozen options, including tangy curries to zesty pad Thai and delectable stir-fries.
The menu is a celebration of authentic Thai dishes made with fresh ingredients and house-made sauces, according to the restaurant.
Customers get to choose their spice level: no spice, medium, spicy, Thai hot, or Lao hot.
One of the most popular options is the pho zap for $14. It’s a traditional Vietnamese-style noodle soup with beef, chicken or meatballs. It also comes with a homemade beef broth base, rice noodles, onion, cilantro, basil and a lime wedge.
Other go-tos are the chef specials, including the lemongrass marinated steak for $17 and a whole fried tilapia for $20.
Another standout dish is the Thai short rib for $19. It comes with savory marinated beef short rib served with a salad and a sunny-side egg on top.
The hours of operation for the Norton Shores location are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
